Thanks to the IAVS, we can support a number of participants with travel grants. Travel grants will be awarded according to the IAVS criteria, based on income level and country of origin. They will preferentially be given to early-career and other financially constrained scientists. The support usually covers only part of the participant’s costs, according to the number of successful applications.
Eligibility and requirements: The applicants for travel grants should be IAVS members. To qualify for a travel grant, active participation at the conference (oral presentation or poster) is required. Only the presenter of the contribution will be supported, so each applicant should apply with a separate talk or poster, and they will be the presenter. After the conference, grantees must provide a short report of the event, and some photos that can be used in Palaearctic Grasslands. To apply for travel grants, applicants must provide the following:
- full online registration
- upload an abstract of a contribution to be presented
- a motivation letter (1/2 page) describing who you are, how you are related to EDGG and its topics and why the EGC is important for you
- an overview on your costs to participate in EGC (mainly the travel and eventually visa costs to get there) and whether you receive additional funding
- confirmation of your IAVS membership (or a copy of the respective e-mail if you just have applied for membership).
All information can be forwarded within 30 June to infoegc@eurac.edu
Information about the results of the travel grant applications will be given at the latest by 30th July.
In addition to the travel grants, participation by Ukrainian IAVS members is completely free (no conference fee) - the respective fees are directly paid by IAVS to the local organizing committee. Applicants should register normally and select the option to pay with bank transfer, then write an email to infoegc@eurac.edu communicating the IAVS membership or proof of membership application. Only the general conference fees will be covered, no extra fees (such as ice breaker or post-conference excursion). Additionally, Ukrainian participants can apply for travel grants to cover the costs of their journey.
As in previous years, prizes will be awarded to young scientists for excellent presentation of their research (orally or in poster form). For these purposes, early career scientists (less than 35-year-old) will be asked during abstract submission if they wish to participate in the contest. During their presentation, the applicant needs to clearly explain their contribution to the work.
